Memories of Mum: A Cookbook
Recipes from the 1970s to the 90's
"I can tell if a recipe is going to be good just by looking at it for a quick minute." Mum
Memories of Mum is a collection of recipes, stories, and reflections on the meals my mum made as a single mother of three girls while we were growing up. The time frame of the recipes and memories is from the late 1970s, when we were school ages, through to the 1990s, as young adults. A handful of recipes reflect the era of meal preparation—convenience via readymade soups, sauces, and packaged meals in a box—but most reflect Mum’s dedication to cooking and creating unique, delicious meals for every day and special occasions, like her famous baked beans, beef bourguignon, pork tenderloin with homemade applesauce, and her signature corn soufflé.
The book is not only a tribute to our mum but also a document of the time, an era in food, meal preparation, and recipes that are worth remembering.
